Chase drew back, clicked his heels, and, grinning madly, saluted. "Yes, ma'am. I can hardly wait, ma'am."
Across the room, Mimsy leaned into her husband. "Our work here is done, James."
From his seat at the lead family table, the Colonel lifted his gaze in the direction his wife stared. His brows creased together. "I don't know. That hard-headed boy—"
Smiling, Mimsy squeezed her husband's hand. "I do, dear. I do."
