Sierra is lying on the ground unconscious and I check the bathroom quickly to make sure there wasn't someone in here. When I look down at her, she's pale white and blood is pooling around her legs.

"Baby, Sierra. Wake up." I roll her to her back from the slump position she was in on her side and shake her. "Baby, you need to wake up. Fuck." I swear under my breath, rush back to the room, and call 911. The operator does her usual greeting but I don't let her finish.

"My girlfriend collapsed and is bleeding out. I need someone here fast. Her pulse is low." I recite the address and wait, counting her heartbeats as I look at my watch to see what her pulse rate is and if it slows. The EMT's arrive not ten minutes later but it's not fast enough. Her heart has stopped and I can't get it to start beating again. I move out of the way so they can work on her as they load her on the stretcher and rush her to the ambulance. They ask me questions and I answer what I know before they head to the hospital with the sirens blaring the whole way.

I rush to the hospital following the ambulance while I phone her parents and let them know. I have never been so scared in my life. When she was captured, I knew she was alive, but this time I felt her heart stopped beating. I felt the very last beat of life while she lay in my arms and there was nothing that I could do. I can't lose her now. She's all I have left. She's the only reason I fought so hard to stay alive. We sit in the waiting room for what feels like hours before the same doctor that told us they would do everything they could to save Sierra and the baby, comes out.

"I'm really sorry."

My world stops.
