Dear Mr. Nancy:

This is in response to your letter dated October 17 in which you wish to donate 100 pairs of shorty pajamas to our institution. At the present time we do not issue pajamas to inmates at this facility. Therefore, we would not have a particular need for this item. As to the possibility of donating these items to staff, this would pose an ethics issue as staff are not allowed to accept items with a value greater than $10. Therefore, I must decline your offer. Thank you for your generosity in wishing to donate these items.

Sincerely,

Keith E. Olson

Warden

Dear Corcoran State Prison,

I wish to donate my collection of old TV guides to your prison. It is a very nice and valuable collection. I believe your prison would be the best place for it. The inmates would certainly like them as they watch a lot of TV.

I’m looking at March ’58 now with Ed Wynn on the cover. I also have an ’81 with Pam Dawber on the cover. Very nice.

Please tell me how I may ship these TV guides to you. They are in order. Yesterday I looked at a ’67 issue with Robert Blake. Now they are yours. I think I may have one with Loretta Lynn someplace in it.

Please advise. I am anxious to give this valuable gift to you. If you want to sell them you can. They are worth quite a bit. Especially the Michael Landon one.

Thanks for the great job you are doing with prisoners. If you don’t want to read them you can sell them and build a wing or something. Let me know as I want to dispose of them to your prison, Corcoran holds dear memories for me.

Respectfully,

Ted L. Nancy

Dear Administration,

I would like to perform a FREE SHOW for your prisoners and guards. They deserve it!

I imitate the group “Santana.” I play 11 different instruments including the whistle and I imitate 9 band members plus I lip synch and mime a 3 piece back up combo. The sound is incredible. I call myself “SANDTANA.”

I want to give back to the community. This performance WILL include Knuckles, my otter.

I make 27 costume changes (including a sequined sleeveless vest and a wig) under the supervision of one of your inmates. This act is truly entertaining for the entire 180 minutes. Everyone loves it. I bring the entire room to a rousing, hand clapping, foot stomping, screaming and yelling (no shoving) finish. Few leave the room to go to the bathroom or for a smoke. It is that good!

Again, there is NO COST to you. It is a FREE performance. I will be in the Connecticut area and would like to bring this show to you. Thank you. I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Sincerely,

Ted L. Nancy
