“Daddy what’s going on?”

“Mommy needs to go to the hospital and we need to go with her.”

He nodded and was still half asleep. Putting him in his car-seat he quickly got onto the road and was heading to the hospital. Looking over towards Amanda she was closing her eyes and making that face. He knew she was in pain and she refused to make it known.

Getting onto the main road it was two in the morning and barely anyone was on the streets. Pulling into the hospital he parked and he got Parker and Amanda out of the car. Getting into the building the lady behind the desk looked at them and got on the intercom. “Would Dr. Morrison please come to the ER. Dr. Morrison to the ER.”

She quickly got a wheelchair and helped Amanda get situated. That was when a woman no older than them walked out. Her brown hair was tied back and when she looked at Amanda she quickly admitted her and they were heading towards the surgery ward.

“Why is she going there,” he asked with Parker in his arms.

“She is losing too much blood,” one of the nurses said. “She need to have a C-Section.”

“Does she have any wishes?”

“She wants the babies to live,” he said and they quickly brought her into a room. One of the nurses stayed behind and looked at him.

“They are going to attempt to save mother and children. Don’t worry – Dr. Morrison is the best.”

Sitting down out in the hall Parker was asleep in his arms. He never asked God for much, but he was praying for Amanda to be okay. That was all he wanted was for her – and their babies – to be okay.

§

Hours seemed to pass and that was when Dr. Morrison walked out of the room. Removing her mask she looked to him and spoke. “All of them are alright. Your wife is going to be moved to the ICU and your children are going to be put under observation. All of them have a high rate of survival.”

“When can I see Amanda?”

“In a few hours when she wakes up – my suggestion is for you to go home with your son and get some rest.”

He nodded and got to his feet. Parker was slightly awake and he saw his eyes open. “Where is mommy?”

“Mommy is okay,” he said. “Mommy just had your brother and sister.”

Parker’s eyes lit up and he smiled slightly. He felt the weariness take its toll on his body and he held his son in his arms.

They had arrived home and he had fallen asleep in Parker’s bedroom. He stirred with his phone going off. “Hello,” he said.

“Hi, this is Jenna Howe, and I am just calling to inform you that your wife is awake. She is in room 110.”

Hanging up the phone he saw Parker was wide awake. “Do you want to go see mommy?”

He nodded and they got up. His mother was sitting on the couch and she looked at him. “Mom, would you like to go to the hospital with me? Amanda just had the twins.”

She nodded and he made the drive once more.

Chapter 10

Amanda never felt this pain before. Her entire torso had been cut open and it hurt just to breathe deeply. That was when Carson entered with Bonnie and Parker. No one had yet to come in and tell her if her babies were okay. That was when Carson gave her that look and she knew they were okay.

Sitting down besides her she felt his warmth and when Parker curled up underneath her arm she knew that nothing was going to go wrong. Bonnie looked slightly disoriented, but she was seeing everything more clearly than she was early.

“How are you feeling?”

“Like I just got butchered – they have me morphine and I just passed out. I don’t remember much of what happened.”

“Well you did just fine. The babies are healthy. I haven’t seen them yet – but for being premature they are fine.”

That was when a nurse entered the room. “Would you like to see them?”

Nodding she brought in a wheelchair and they followed the nurse. “Your son isn’t allowed in.”

Looking at Parker he didn’t seem to understand. “I’ll stay out here with him,” said Bonnie.

Going into the unit they saw the twins in there. They were so small – much smaller than Parker was when he was born. “Your son is five pounds six ounces and your daughter is four pounds nine ounces. For now they are just under observation, but they should be able to go home when you recover.”

Amanda looked to Carson and saw his eyes look fondly at their children. He was giving them the same look he gave Parker. “What are we going to name them? I know we’ve talked about it but we never agreed.”

“How about we name the boy Hunter James,” began Carson.

“And the girl Jodi Marie,” finished Amanda.

He nodded and held her hand firmly. Everything was going wonderfully, and Amanda felt as if nothing could go wrong.

§

It had been a month and the twins were finally sleeping through the night. Getting up Amanda walked into the hallway and saw Parker sitting outside the twin’s bedroom. “What are you doing out here kiddo?”

“I am protecting them from the monsters.”

Sitting besides her son she nestled him in her arms. Kissing his head she spoke softly. “Maybe you should get some sleep sweetie. I am sure the monsters won’t hurt them.”

Getting to her feet he was still in her arms. “They better not.”

Walking him into his bedroom she tucked him into his bed. “Goodnight.”

“Mom,” said Parker. “I love you.”

“I love you too baby.”

Making her way to the kitchen she poured herself a glass of water. Her muscles still hurt when she bent down. The doctor said it could take three months to feel human again. She wondered if that were true or just something they said to make them feel better.

Sipping her water she heard someone walk out. Appearing in the kitchen was Carson. “Are you alright?”

Embracing him she nodded. “I am just fine. I was just very thirsty.”

He smiled and kissed her. They hadn’t had sex in months and she was longing for the feeling again. Of course the doctor said another six months before she could start having sex again, but she wanted Carson. She wasn’t even sure what would happen if she did have sex with him.

Nibbling his bottom lip she slipped her hands into his pajama bottoms and grabbed his cock. “Mandy the doctor said that we had to wait.”

Getting on her knees she began sucking his cock and she knew he was going to cave soon.

He got her to stop and took her to the bedroom. “I don’t care,” she said to him. “I want to have sex. – Just be gentle.”

She felt as he removed her clothes and she fell into bed. She spread her legs waiting to receive him and he taunted her. He rubbed his dick on the outside of her and she wanted him to enter. When he did she felt how sore she was and winced slightly.

Carson was gentle on her – as if he knew what she was feeling. He was slow and smooth. Hunching his back he was kissing her lightly and stroking her neck. She wanted more – she wanted it rough – but she knew it couldn’t be tonight.

That was when they heard crying on the baby monitor. Getting changed quickly they both walked to where they were and saw Jodi crying. Picking her up in her arms she looked over to Hunter and he was sound asleep. Bonnie walked into the nursery and she looked at them. Over the course of the past few weeks she was getting worse with not remembering anything. It was heartbreaking to watch.

As she disappeared into the hall was when Carson turned towards her. “I know we said we were going to take care of her, but I don’t think we can anymore. We have so much going on as it is. We have the three children and work. We aren’t able to juggle all of this Mandy.”

“We’re going to have to. Nursing homes are horrible Carson. Bonnie deserves to be taken care of properly.”

“Then what should we do? Get a caretaker? I thought we were saving up our money.”

“Putting her in a nursing home would be expensive too.”

“No,” he said firmly. “Her insurance will cover it. Look, it hurts me to even bring it up. But we are going to have to consider it. I love her, but she is getting worse. We can only do so much.”

Looking down to Jodi her face was red and puffy. She wasn’t hungry, and she didn’t need a changed diaper. She just wanted attention. That was something that was lacking in this household. The decision that they were coming to was not one in her favor, but they had no choice.

“Fine – you win Carson. But we will have to visit her often.”

“Of course we will.”

After several minutes Jodi had finally fallen asleep in her arms and she put her down to sleep. Together they walked to the bedroom and fell asleep.

It had only seemed like an hour before their alarm clocks were blaring and they begrudgingly got out of bed. Carson went to the bathroom to get ready for work and she went to go check in on Parker.

He was sleeping soundly in his car-bed and he was twirling his hair. Staying in the doorway she loved him so much, and she loved the twins the same. Everything was so nice and wonderful.

Turning away she saw Bonnie standing there with a vacancy in her eyes. “I know you two are taking me to the nursing home. I don’t mind. I do understand why you are doing it, and I am not mad.”

Hugging Bonnie she was upset to have to send her. “I am so sorry Bonnie.”

She shook her head. “It is alright. Just visit me frequently with the children and we will be okay.”

Nodding she was going to visit her as often as possible. Bonnie was part of this family – but they didn’t have the energy to take care of her and the three children all together. Bonnie walked away and that was when she went to the baby room.

Hunter was awake but he was not being fussy. He had a thin face compared to Jodi’s. He was defiantly going to look like his father – and Jodi was going to look like her. Then again it was too early to tell.

Taking Hunter in her arms she was overjoyed to be a mother of three amazing children. She wouldn’t change any of it for the world. Changing Hunter’s diaper was when Carson walked in dressed for work. At his side was Parker. For only being three he was very intelligent and could speak in full sentences. She knew he was going to be something amazing when he grew up.

She did not have to work and Carson wanted to keep it that way. However, when the children were older she wanted to go back to work. Parker walked over to Jodi’s crib and looked at his sleeping sister. Carson wrapped his arms around her waist and she was finished with Hunter’s dirty diaper.

“They are adorable,” she began. “But they are very stinky.”

“Mommy,” Parker said. “How did you get them inside you?”

This question was one she was hoping would have been asked years from now. Sighing she held Hunter tightly and looked at him. “You know how mommy loves watermelons?”

He nodded.

“Well one day mommy swallowed two watermelon seeds and that was when your brother and sister started growing inside me.”

“Oh. I swallowed a watermelon seed – does that mean I am going to have a baby?”

“No silly! Only grown-ups who are girls who swallow watermelon seeds can have babies.”
