Kicking his foot off the stone wall
below the front window of the bakery, Bobby stepped forward and turned around.
It was such a nice building.  A small, hometown kind of place.  Just looking at
the bakery gave Bobby a warm feeling, a reminder of life when it was simpler.
Beth took care of it, keeping it immaculate.  A real diamond among the shithole
that surrounded her.

Why did it have to go?

The thought struck Bobby like a
lightning strike.

He smiled for the first time in
almost an entire day.

“Why did it have to go?” he asked.

He touched the front window, tracing
the large ‘C’ with his finger.

Bobby reached into his pocket,
grabbed his cell phone, and hurried to dial Mr. Galloway.  He took two steps
back and looked up and down the street, his mind piecing things together.

“Bobby?  Dammit Bobby, I was going
to send in the cavalry to find out…”

“Mr. Galloway, sorry.  I’ve been
busy.”

“Yeah, busy.  Everything done?  Can
we move forward.”

“Yes and no, sir.”

“Sir?  I don’t like the sound of
this already.”

Bobby preferred to be face to face
with Mr. Galloway right now since the old man was more tough on a telephone
than in person, but he had no choice right now.

“This bakery…”

“Yeah, the one thing holding this
up,” Mr. Galloway growled.

“This bakery has to stay.  It’s
perfect here.”

“What?  It has to stay?”

“Mr. Galloway, I know how we
usually do these kinds of deals…”

“I don’t like this.”

“Just listen for a second,” Bobby
shouted.

He paused, waiting for Mr. Galloway
to hang up.  The phone line stood silent for a few seconds and then Mr.
Galloway sighed.

“You have one minute.”

“This bakery is the staple of the
street, and town even.  It screams for the small town feel you want.  The
robbery was a fluke, and not so much a reflection of the town but the aftermath
is.  The woman who owns the bakery opened right away again, refusing to give
up.  How can you not fall in love with that?  It’s a one story building so
there’s not much we could do with it anyway.  I say we leave it here, leave it
standing as a testament of what the town once was, what it became, and what it
will be.  Not to mention the baked goods are the best I’ve ever tasted.  I met
the woman who owns the place… and if you don’t just fall in love with her then
you have no heart.”

“Christ Bobby, are you in love with
her?”

Bobby froze up.
Yes, he was.

“All I’m trying to say is that if we remove the bakery, we’re taking a good
part of the town away.  It’ll create problems.  For a lot of people.  Why not
build around the bakery, build something for the town, something really
special?”

“Something special,” Mr. Galloway.
“Is there money in
something special
?”

“All I can say is that I’m
following my heart here, like you told me to do when I first started working
with you.”

Mr. Galloway laughed.  “Wow, you’re
pulling out all the stops here, aren’t you?  That bakery must really be
something special…”

Bobby opened his mouth to reply and
saw something reflect in the glass of the front window of the bakery.  Someone
stood behind him.  For a second, he saw a man wearing all black holding a gun
out.  Then he blinked and saw it was Beth in the reflection.  He spun around to
see if something or someone was really there.

Beth was really there.

She looked at Bobby, half between
smiling and crying.  His heart ached knowing that he caused her to feel that
way.

She just stood there with her hands
at her sides.  Her eyes moved from him to the bakery and back again and again.

“Bobby, you there?” Mr. Galloway
shouted into the phone.

“Mr. Galloway, I’m here,” Bobby
said.  “Sir, I can’t tell you how much this bakery means.  I need you to trust
me on this.”

“Trust you,” Mr. Galloway.

“I’ve never lied to you and never
would.”  Bobby stared at Beth, knowing that he was now talking to Beth and not
Mr. Galloway.  “I’m following my heart and I won’t stop.  This place is going
to stay put, as is.  Everything else will be built around it.  I apologize for
being like this but I can’t risk losing the bakery… or you…”

“Or me?” Mr. Galloway asked.
“Where would I go?”

“Do you understand me?” Bobby
asked.

“Bobby, if this is what you
think…”  Mr. Galloway sighed.  “That’s fine then.  Just get back here by Monday
so we can decide what to do next.”

Bobby took the phone from his ear.
He smiled.  “I love you…”

“You love…” Mr. Galloway started to
say but Bobby disconnected the call.

His eyes were dead set on Beth,
memorizing her beautiful features again.  He moved towards her, this time
refusing to let her go.  He wouldn’t let her go.  He couldn’t.

“It’s staying,” Bobby said.

“I already told you, it’s closed,”
Beth replied.

“Well, you better open it back up.
It’s staying.”

“What if I refuse?”

“Then I’ll probably get in
trouble.  Maybe even lose my job.”

“Then I guess I better open up.”

Beth walked to the front door and
unlocked it.  She opened the door and stood for a second then looked back to
Bobby.  He wasn’t sure if it was an invitation or not but he scrambled anyway
to get inside.  Anything to be near Beth.  He had to talk to her, explain all
he could to her.  He needed her to feel amazing again.  She deserved it.

Once inside, Beth started to move towards
the counter and Bobby stopped her.

“Want me to take the sign down?” he
asked pointing to the CLOSED sign taped to the door.

Beth shook her head.  She retraced
her steps and not only left the sign up, she locked the door again.

“What are you doing?  I thought you
said…”

“I’ll open first thing Monday
morning,” she said.

“Then why are we here?”

“Unfinished business,” she replied
and took Bobby’s hand.

Her touch made him shiver and she
led him through the bakery towards the back.

His eyes drew lines along her
thick, sweet curves.

Who knew lust and love would mix so
well… like perfect ingredients…

13-

There wasn’t
much room in
the back of the bakery, which actually for the first time since opening the
bakery Beth thought of as a good thing.  The less room for she and Bobby, the
tighter and hotter it would be.

She had come down to the bakery to
stand and stare at it.  She wanted to find herself for a second because being
lost and desperate really wasn’t a way to live.  Times when she felt like this
she would visit her grandmother who always had the right words to say and a way
to put things into perspective to make the world go round again.  Even after
her grandmother passed away, Beth would go to her grave to visit, but it was
never the same.

Of all things in her life, both
good and bad, she never felt as challenged as she did with Bobby.  She never
had met a man who looked at her like he did and even in the midst of seeing his
true purpose of being at her bakery, she could still see honesty in his eyes.
He technically never lied to her, even though he never told her the entire
story.  A gray area for sure, left up to the Beth to decide if it warranted a
punishment.

Seeing Bobby standing in front of
the bakery, on his cell phone, pleading to keep it open made Beth feel welcomed
and appreciated.  Then when he looked at her and spoke…

“Beth, I have to say something,”
Bobby said.

Her hand was still tight around his
hand, pulling him.  She took him to the small office that contained a small
desk and a computer.  It was the place Beth would sit to pay bills, order
supplies, or take a break.  Three years ago there had been a terrible snowstorm
and the entire town closed up for a day.

Beth didn’t.

She couldn’t.

Going home, sitting alone while
snow fell seemed to be the setup for the loneliest night of her life so she
brought a sleeping bag, blankets, and pillows to the bakery and worked until
she could barely see, then crashed on the floor in her office.

She never took the items out of the
office or the bakery, in case there ever was another emergency.

Today there was an emergency…

Beth wanted to fuck Bobby and she
didn’t want to wait.

She knew it wouldn’t change
anything between them… whoever Bobby was, that’s who he’d be.  She knew it
wouldn’t change how she felt about herself, the bakery, or her life either.
But in the moments of pulling him into the bakery, then into the office,
shutting the door, forcing him against the door, eyeing his face and body, then
lunging at him, kissing him fast and deep, she knew it was the right thing to
do.  To live in this moment, right here right now, and to not regret it for a
second.

Bobby’s hands made for quick work,
going around and down to Beth’s lower back, lifting her shirt so he could touch
her skin again.  A second later his hands slipped into her pants and panties.
He pulled, forcing her tighter against his body, allowing his erection to be
well known between them two.

Beth let out a sigh as she kissed
Bobby.

Their tongues rolled in each
other’s mouths as Beth held onto Bobby’s shirt, pulling at him, her fingers
twisted in the cloth.  She let out deep breaths through her nose, flooding
Bobby’s face.  Somewhere inside herself the played they
stay or go
game,
her mind and part of her heart told her to stop kissing Bobby and face
reality.  Her body and the other half of her heart told her to stay put and
enjoy Bobby while she could.  If he left and stayed gone for good, at least
she’d have these kinds of memories.

Bobby’s hand, right on cue, came
around Beth’s body, his left hand stopping at her hip while his right hand continued
down and slipping between her legs.  His strong fingers pressed hard on her
pants, lifting and forcing the moisture from her wet slit to her panties.  The
intense feeling actually made Beth growl and just like that her hands let go of
Bobby’s shirt.  They slid down to the bottom of his shirt and lifted.  When his
shirt came off Beth took a two second break and stepped back to memorize
Bobby’s body again.  His chiseled chest, flat stomach and lines that all
pointed down.

That two second break gave Bobby
the chance to breathe and then attack.  He took over control and grabbed at
Beth’s pants, pulling her back in.  Their mouths crashed together again and
Bobby became the aggressive one, lifting up Beth’s shirt.  Up and over her head
and down to the floor of the office.  He skipped her bra and went for her pants,
a move Beth didn’t expect but welcomed.  With just a subtle flick of his
fingers, her pants unbuttoned and Bobby wasted no time forcing them down her
beautiful legs to the floor.  When Beth stepped from her pants, she paused
again and held up a hand.

“Sorry,” she whispered.  “Should
have done this first.  Didn’t think it would be… I don’t know…”

She turned and retrieved the
sleeping bag and rolled it out.  Next came the pillow and blanket, and in a
matter of seconds a small bed lay on the floor for them to enjoy each other
upon.

Bobby watched Beth as she wore just
her bra and panties, his body losing all control.  From emotion to lust and all
the way back, every nerve in his body felt tingly and satisfied.  He could get
used to seeing Beth like this.

When she finished with the floor,
Beth faced Bobby again with a distance they both didn’t like.

“I believe you were doing this,”
she said as she reached behind herself to unsnap her bra.

In all her life, she couldn’t
remember ever unsnapping her own bra in front of another man.  She felt the
weight of her breasts push forward and as she put her arms, her bra fell to the
floor.

Bobby moaned at the sight of Beth’s
large, supple breasts.  He came forward and his hands cupped her.  He held her
breasts and placed his lips to her nipples, one at a time, kissing them.  He
then moved down to his knees as his fingertips slipped into Beth’s panties.  He
pulled and stripped them down, exposing Beth’s vagina.  The sweet smell of her
desire hit Bobby and he couldn’t control himself as he kissed her.

The feel of Bobby’s lips against
the smooth skin between her legs made Beth shiver.  When she felt his tongue
slip between her wetness, touching gently against her hole, she cried out his
name.  He flicked at her, tasting her, teasing her, knowing just how sensitive
she was.

Each movement sent intense pleasure
through Beth.  She placed her hands to Bobby’s hair and pulled a little at him,
wanting more.  He gave her that little more as his tongue curled, moving up and
focusing on her clitoris.  The super sensitive spot and rough pressure from
Bobby’s tongue made Beth’s toes curl.  His body jerked hard a few times as she
had the sudden urge to orgasm.

“Oh Bobby,” she whispered.
“Please… please have me, Bobby.  I need you…”

Bobby pulled away from Beth.  He
looked up to her and his hands squeezed her backside.  He offered her a tug,
hinting what he wanted her to do.

Beth felt the motion, and
listened.  She moved down to her knees, matching Bobby.  She then kissed him,
her tongue fluttering along his lips wanting to taste him… and even the subtle
hint of herself on his lips.  It made her moan just thinking how erotic
everything had become.

Bobby eased Beth back and then
down, his hand behind her head.  His body pressed tight against her, his
erection touching Beth.

She felt the hard bulge but she
wanted the real thing.

Her hands solved that problem,
working with a speed she could never remember having while baking.  Bobby put
his hands flat to the floor and held himself up, staring down, watching Beth
work.  With his jeans unbuckled, Beth went for the kill, both of her hands
going into his pants – and boxers – and pushing with all her force.  Bobby
helped when needed, kicking his legs.  When he was finally naked Beth’s hands
climbed up his legs and made a quick stop at his erection.  Both hands took
their turn gripping and stroking his shaft, but only once before she put her
hands to his back and pushed.
